Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrival in Georgia
Welcome to Georgia! Upon arrival at Tbilisi Airport, you’ll be met and transferred to your hotel.

Day 2 – Exploring Historic Tbilisi
Begin your adventure with a guided walking tour through Tbilisi’s atmospheric Old Town. Visit the 13th-century Metekhi Church, enjoy panoramic views from the Narikala Fortress, and stroll past the city’s famous sulfur baths. See the Synagogue and Sioni Cathedral, which houses the vine-cross of St. Nino—the woman who brought Christianity to Georgia in 337 AD.
After lunch, wander along the elegant Rustaveli Avenue, then enjoy free time before a welcome dinner at a traditional Georgian restaurant.

Day 3 – Ancients Capital & High Caucasus
Travel to Mtskheta, Georgia’s ancient capital and spiritual heart. Visit the Jvari Church (7th century) and the grand Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (11th century), both UNESCO sites. Continue along the scenic Georgian Military Highway, stopping at the Ananuri Fortress before crossing the dramatic Cross Pass (2,400 m) to Stepantsminda, nestled beneath Mount Kazbek.

Day 4 – Hike to Gergeti Trinity Church
Today’s hike leads to the iconic Gergeti Trinity Church (14th century), perched high above the valley with magnificent views of Mount Kazbek (5,047 m). After the walk, a scenic drive takes you through the wild Dariali Gorge, near the Russian border, before returning to Stepantsminda.

Day 5 – Silk road and Cave City
Follow the Silk Road into Shida Kartli to explore the ancient cave city of Uplistsikhe, once a bustling trade hub with streets, palaces, and a theatre carved from rock. Continue to Gori, Stalin’s birthplace, for a brief stop, then cross the Rikoti Pass into lush Imereti, the land of the Golden Fleece. Evening arrival in Kutaisi for dinner with a local family.

Day 6 – Into the Mountains of Svaneti
Visit Gelati Monastery (12th century) and Bagrati Cathedral (11th century), both UNESCO sites. Then browse Kutaisi’s colorful farmers’ market before heading north into Svaneti, a remote land of glaciers, alpine meadows, and ancient watchtowers. Arrive in Mestia by evening.

Day 7 – Hike to the Chalaadi Glacier
A gentle hike leads through forested valleys to the Chalaadi Glacier, offering breathtaking mountain views and a chance to touch the edge of eternal ice. Back in Mestia, visit the Svan House Museum to learn about this proud mountain culture.

Day 8 – UNESCO Village Ushguli
Drive to Ushguli, Europe’s highest permanently inhabited village (2,200 m), a UNESCO site famed for its medieval towers and spectacular views of Mount Shkhara (5,200 m). Enjoy a short hike to Queen Tamar’s Fortress and explore the 12th-century Lamaria Church before returning to Mestia.

Day 9 – To the Black Sea Coast – Batumi
Descend from the Caucasus to the subtropical Black Sea region. En route, visit the lush Batumi Botanical Garden, home to thousands of plant species from around the world. Later, enjoy a seaside dinner while watching the sun set over the water.

Day 10 – Over the Goderdzi Pass
Leave the coast behind and journey into Adjara’s green mountains, where Christian and Muslim communities have lived side by side for centuries. Cross the Goderdzi Pass (2,025 m) and visit the restored Rabati Fortress in Akhaltsikhe, before continuing to Vardzia.

Day 11 – Cave City of Vardzia
Explore the remarkable cave monastery of Vardzia, built in the 12th century under Queen Tamar’s reign—an extraordinary complex of chambers, tunnels, and frescoes carved into the cliffside. En route to Tbilisi, visit the Khertvisi Fortress and Paravani Lake, and stop at the former German settlement Asureti. Celebrate your unforgettable journey with a farewell dinner in a traditional restaurant.
